About Me & This Site

My name is Sam Rayner. I’m a 17 year old from Birmingham, UK currently studying for my A-Levels. I’ve been working with the Web since 2002, learning from books, the community and my mistakes. Whenever I find the time, I do some front-end design and development work for Made Media.

Site Information

This website is coded with valid, semantic markup according to the XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS2.1 specifications. Bare in mind, I have employed (predominantly CSS) techniques that are not fully supported by some browsers at this time of writing. If you take a genuine interest in most of the posts made on this site, chances are you’ll be using a modern browser such as Firefox, Safari or Opera which will render everything just fine.

Visitors using Internet Explorer however, may well encounter issues when browsing. Whilst I do aim to fix these problems in the future, squashing IE bugs is not at the top of my list of things to do. In the mean time, I urge those users to upgrade to one of the afformentioned browsers and enjoy this and thousands of other sites as they are meant to be enjoyed.

Content Management and Hosting

SR.com is powered by the fantastic ExpressionEngine, a flexible, feature-rich content management system that handles everything I throw at it beautifully. I highly recommend you give the core version a try on your next project. DreamHost deal with all my hosting needs at a great price and my experience with them so far has been very positive.

Formatting Comments

You may use any of the following tags to markup your comments: <em>, <strong>, <a href="">, <code>, <q> and <blockquote>.

Text within a code tag pair will have it’s line breaks automatically formatted to <br /> tags and paragraph tag pairs will be automatically added within blockquote elements.

If you are unsure of how to use these tags please just leave your comment unformatted. This will avoid invalid code creeping in and affecting the site.

Any URLs will be automatically converted to links. Headings are not allowed and inline images should be linked to, not embedded.
