First Edition

I’ve always enjoyed reading the dedications tucked away in the first pages of books.

Treating a blog like a book admittedly feels a little strange, the relief of completion and publishing coming before the actual content has been written. Nevertheless, it’s finally launched and some thankyous are in order.

To all my friends and family, who smile and nod as I burble about Microformats and unobtrusive JavaScript. To my Dad especially, who has offered so much support since he bought me my first book on designing table-based wonders back in 2002. To the entire Web community, who make the Internet such an innovative and inspiring place, in particular the rockstars who never cease to amaze. And to Cat, because I promised :).

A very happy new year to everyone who’s taken the time to read this. Hopefully you’ll visit the site a few more times in 2008.

Now, let’s see about some posts shall we?

Congratulations on your new site going live Sam. It looks great and the long hours of thinking and coding have definitely been worth it.

I agree with your dad. Although I will never understand the coding that goes into creating the ‘post comment’ button I used to post this comment, I can understand that it would take me about a year to figure out how to do it. The site looks great, will definitely need that ‘media convert’ app so well done sam. Keep it coming.
